On The New Too Busy Thinking About My Comics II

“There is nothing ugly; I never saw an ugly thing in my life; for let the form of an object be what it may, light, shade and perspective will always make it beautiful.”

John Constable

(Panels from The New Gods #9, by Jack Kirby & Mike Royer, DC, 1972)

Just to say that there's now a companion to TooBusyThinking up on Tumblr. Updated at least three times a day, it presents some of my favourite images from a broad range of comic books, strips and merchandise, with an added quotation which might hopefully either playfully inform or even challenge what's been posted above it.

TooBusyThinkingAboutMyComics II can be found, should you be at all curious, here.

TooBusyThinkingAboutMyComics I will, however, resume tomorrow with a new post about one of today's finest comics artists. Just so that you know ...

  1. Cool. Always great to see an intelligent celebration of comics.

  2. Minor point that I offer only in the interest of Best Practices-- the theme you use doesn't seem very RSS complaint? I had to manually enter it. Not the end of the world, but I wanted to note.

    1. Hello mordicai:- Thank you for pointing that problem. I have to admit that I've shamefully no understanding of the situation, but I'd welcome - I really would - your suggestions as to how I might put things right.

    1. Hello Historyman:- I have no doubt that RL may appear on TBTAMCII. Just not perhaps yet.

  4. One of today's finest comic artists. You realise that could potentially end up with 400 comments suggesting artists who are better? I've already got a list of 20 in my head, none of whom are likely to be your intended target.

    1. Hello Peter:- I look forward to seeing if my choice and the names on your list coincided. I have no doubt we'll be in agreement about said gentleman's quality :)

    1. Hello Sally:- He's far more sensitive than later versions of the character would allow for. I wonder if some of those creators ever read the Kirby issues closely at all.

Mind you, he's not so sensitive that I'd call him sensitive to his face ...

  6. Hi Colin, nice one on the Tumblr (grrrr, want to add an 'e'), I love the extracted panels, and the wee quotes - food for thought and a feast for the eyes.

I just wonder about the title, whether people searching for you on Google might want one, and not the other. Then again, everyone should take both!

    1. Hello Martin: - Thank you, both for the generous words and for the point which I'd never considered re: Google. What would you, an endlessly less occluded thinker, suggest?

    2. How about Too Busy Thinking About My Comic Panels? The link is there, but it's different enough at the end to bring up different results.

I dunno, Colin, I may be talking nonsense, but I did a test-Google for the Tumblr and got the Blogger.

      Whatever happens, I love it!

    3. Hello Martin:- I like that! Thank you. When I get back home, I start sorting that out. As always, your eggness saves the day.
