|Canon Fodder and Dr J. H. Watson, by Chris Weston, from the UKCAC93 booklet. (With my apologies for the results of scanning from the Con souvenir's old and thin paper.)|
This week's instalment of Shameless? The Superhero Comics Of Mark Millar is the first of three about his and artist Chris Weston's splendidly out-there Canon Fodder. Everything that makes Millar's earliest body of work both fascinating and contentious can be found in Canon Fodder's pages, along with Weston's typically superlative storytelling. It's both relishable and infuriating, inspired and slipshod, compelling and wearying; in fact, Canon Fodder is such a bundle of contradictions, dead-ends and absurd pleasures that it's - whisper it - a great deal of fun to write about. I hope something of that comes through in the post, which can be found here at Sequart.
Acts of fate notwithstanding, TooBusyThinking will return this time tomorrow.
